We will walk through the City and cover topics like Indigenous resistance to colonization, the Gold Rush, the Tom Mooney 1916 Preparedness Day bombing and frameup (and eventual release from San Quentin after 22 years), waterfront strikes that peaked in 1934 with a longshore worker-led General Strike, South of Market/Folsom Street queer leather scene, Compton Cafeteria Trans Riot in the Tenderloin in 1966 (3 years before Stonewall!), resistance by Black and Filipino residents to urban clearance, the 1977 "504 Sit-in" by disabled activists of the Federal Building at UN Plaza for 26 days, Latinx fights against gentrification in the Mission, a tour of the labor history murals in the Redstone Building (16th & Capp), and we'll finish by grabbing lunch and sitting in Dolores Park across from Emma Goldman & Alexander Berkman's apartment. In total, we'll walk 4.2 miles over 3-4 hours.
